A Lifetime Love of Art
Marjorie Sarnat majored in painting and drawing at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Eastern Michigan University. She also studied with noted painter Joe Abbrescia for whom she taught art in his acclaimed Chicago art school. Today she is a Certified Grumbacher Instructor, a best-selling author on the subjects of art and creativity, and an award-winning artist whose works are in collections worldwide.
Her artistic emphasis has always followed two paths: traditional life drawing and painting, and explorations of color and texture for the pure sensual pleasure of it.
It was the passion for color and texture that led Marjorie to an earlier career in textile design, and the love of the human form that later led her to a career designing numerous award-winning collectibles such as the Project Runway® Designer Dolls branded by the hit TV show.
Her Kleo Kats and Hidden Treasures series are a synthesis of her love for painting from life and her passion for color and texture. Marjorie says, “I continue to explore my visions as a fine artist, and believe that my recent work reflects my true artistic spirit.”
Marjorie lives in Southern California with her designer husband, artist daughter, creative son, and two golden retrievers.
